Win a plushie like this!: [link]

Summoner Grub

Yes I gave him a goatee. It's cute. Shut up. Anywho, it's hard to see but his face actually has a brown undertone. I dyed the fabric a little too grey so it's hard to see in pictures >_<

Summoner is from Homestuck which belongs to Andrew Hussie.

You had a birthday recently didn't you? Happy birthday!

Anyway, I use hot glue on my hair usually but sometime when you want a more secure hold you use a glue like E6000. You can also sew it in place if careful. Some plushie makers prefer to do the hair in a solid sewn block as opposed to glue for stability but I find E6000 is more than permanently enough and easy to clean up.

Just remember the glue is toxic so you need to work in a ventilated area. Also, the glue takes 24 hours to fully cure so you have to do the hair in stages.

Like with all my grubs I sew the feet first out of suede or fleece depending, then I sew the body up leaving holes for the feet and then sew them in. I dyed the skin fabric with a diluted black dye to give a brown/grey skin texture and sewed up the head/stuffed it. I make a wire structure so the legs are bendable, put it inside the body, stuff around it and into the feet, sew on the head to the body, make the horns, paint them, attach them, and then layer individual hair sections on the head until it looks right, attach the eyes, and there we go! Finished grub.!

Most of my grub work takes 1-2 hours sewing the body and feet (hand sewn), the face and horns take 30 minutes to an hour, the wire frame takes 10 minutes, and the hair takes 1-3 hours depending. Usually I can finish a plush in one sitting I just tend to get distracted really easily.
